Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos awarded the 2016 Nobel Peace Prize

Congratulations to Colombian President Mr. Juan Manuel Santos for being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for efforts to end 52 years of civil conflict and war with FARC rebels. The Colombian civil war between the government and the Marxist revolutionary armed forces of Colombia (FARC) has claimed more than 220,000 lives and displaced almost five million people during half a century of conflict. The Nobel Selecting Committee praised Mr. Santos for a peace deal that he signed with the rebels. He said this honorable distinction is not for me it’s for all the victims of the conflict.
